As the year winds down and the days grow short, my body seems to mirror the weather.  Yes, there are ups and downs, but overall my body has been feeling extra drained. You too?

With the Winter season upon us, the urge to take things a bit slower and nourish my body and adrenals has become deeper. I would also nudge you to listen to what your body is telling you.

Have you ever tried Golden Milk before? This comforting drink gets its wonderful color and aptly named "golden" from the herb/spice, turmeric.

The turmeric and cinnamon in this drink are fantastic for fighting inflammation in your body. Especially before bedtime, this drink is so soothing and promotes better sleep. This would also be a fantastic, warm drink to serve a child before bedtime, just consider leaving all or most of the sweetener out if doing so. I have named this "doubly golden" because of the addition of butter!

(Yield 2 mugs)

  • 3 Cups Raw Milk
  • 1TBSP butter
  • 1tsp Ground Turmeric
  • 1/2tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 dashes of Vanilla
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1TBSP Monkfruit or low-glycemic sweetener

Slowly heat all ingredients on low heat, as you do not want to overheat the milk and disrupt the beneficial properties in the milk. When all are warmed through, take off heat, and using an immersion blender or milk frother, blend together until desired frothiness has occurred. Pour into mugs and sprinkle with more cinnamon and/or turmeric.
